The Tuki Wasi Project has advanced the installation of 1,612 improved stoves in the regions of La Libertad, Huánuco and Cajamarca - Peru in November of this year, with the collaboration of our local partners, the company Inkasol, and the organizations Centro de Atención y Social Promotion (Social CAP) and Sustainability of Forests for Development (SBD). The implementation of these kitchens benefits 8,000 residents of the 3 regions.
Currently, the installation of approximately 1,200 additional kitchens is underway. With the goal of reaching 5,500 improved stoves by the end of the year.
Importance of Improved Stoves
The use of this type of stove allows the combustion process to be improved, reducing the consumption of local firewood and reducing carbon emissions. At the same time, they help expel toxic smoke outside the home, drastically reducing indoor pollution and the risk of respiratory diseases.
About the Tuki Wasi Project
In November 2021, Microsol signed an agreement with the Swiss institutions Climate Cent Foundation (CCF) and KliK Foundation for the purchase of Mitigation Results (ITMO) under article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement.
In this way, the Tuki Wasi Project, which will be one of the first ITMO projects for improved stoves in the world and in Peru.
Microsol, with the support of local partners such as CAP Social in Huánuco, Inkasol in La Libertad and SBD in Cajamarca, expects to install 60,000 improved stoves nationwide under the project, which will benefit approximately 300,000 people in vulnerable areas of the country. , reducing an estimated emissions of between 480,000 and 750,000 tCO2and to 2030.
