Microsol participated as a speaker at a major international biodiversity event.

From March 9 to 11, 2026, the Community Carbon & Biodiversity Credit Markets Forum 2026 was held in Cali, Colombia. This international event brought together specialists, project developers, and organizations from the climate sector to discuss the future of community-focused carbon markets. The event was supported by Global Affairs Canada and CGIAR’s B-REAL project, and co-organized with CIAT, Coady Academy, and SCTX University.

The forum aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge on innovative carbon credit initiatives that simultaneously contribute to climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. It also addressed tools and approaches that help strengthen the role of local communities in environmental management and in developing sustainable climate solutions within the carbon market.

Microsol was invited to participate as a speaker to share its experience in developing community-focused carbon projects in Latin America. The organization was represented by Yanna Gruel, general manager, and Angelit Meza, commercial and communications coordinator.

During the event, Microsol participated in technical sessions. The first presentation, titled “Experience in Certification, Validation, and Verification,” focused on the organization’s track record in developing carbon credit projects in the region. This presentation highlighted specific examples of initiatives implemented in Peru and the Dry Corridor of Central America (Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras), emphasizing the main challenges faced throughout the projects’ lifecycle, as well as lessons learned regarding community participation and benefit-sharing mechanisms.

The second presentation, “VMC Compliance: An ICS Project Under Article 6.2,” focused on the implementation of programs within the regulated carbon market under the framework of Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. Microsol presented its experience as the developer of the Tuki Wasi Program, a pioneering initiative for improved stoves in rural communities in Peru implemented under the Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMO) mechanism, thanks to the bilateral agreement between Peru and Switzerland. Through this case study, the program’s development process was explained, from project design to certification and credit issuance, as well as the program’s financing cycle within the Regulated Carbon Market.

The event concluded with a session summarizing the main topics discussed, the lessons learned during the forum, and the follow-up resources that will be available to continue strengthening initiatives of this kind.

Microsol’s participation in such international forums helps to further promote knowledge sharing and strengthen the development of climate solutions that integrate environmental impact and social benefits for communities.
