Within the framework of the implementation of the Tuki Wasi improved stoves project, Microsol signs with AENOR the validation of the mitigation actions; essential requirement in the process of certification of emission reductions and their subsequent transfer in the context of the bilateral agreement between Peru and Switzerland.
The validation process of the Tuki Wasi Project is key to the authorization of the transfer of emission reductions, and will be registered and approved through the future National Registry of Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Measures (RENAMI), which is in the process of being implementation by the Ministry of the Environment of Peru.
About the Tuki Wasi Project
In November 2021, Microsol signed an agreement with the Swiss institutions Climate Cent Foundation (CCF) and KliK Foundation for the purchase of Mitigation Results (ITMO) under article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. Thus, the Tuki Wasi Project was created, which will be the first project of its kind in Peru and one of the first in the world.
Microsol, with the support of local partners such as CAP Social in Huánuco, Inkasol in La Libertad, SBD in Cajamarca, and other potential partners, expects to install 60,000 improved stoves nationwide under the project, which will benefit approximately 300,000 people. in vulnerable areas of the country, and it is estimated that it will generate between 480,000 and 960,000 tCO2e by the year 2030.
About improved kitchens
The use of this type of cookstove allows the combustion process to be improved/made more efficient, reducing the consumption of local firewood and reducing carbon emissions. At the same time, they help expel toxic smoke and particulate matter out of the home, drastically reducing indoor pollution and the risk of respiratory diseases.
