On May 28 and 29, 2025, at the ESAN Convention Center, one of the largest events on carbon markets in the country took place, the Peru Carbon Forum, a meeting that brought together international leaders from public and private organizations and experts from the environmental sector in Lima to discuss the current status and progress of the markets in the region, and the opportunities and challenges in climate action in Latin America.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

During the two days, more than 30 panels and workshops were held, divided into three thematic tracks that addressed from financing opportunities in the Voluntary Carbon Market, technologies for project monitoring, methodologies and standards, strategies and planning for projects, to energy transition, opportunities in the regulated market and blockchain, tokenization and artificial intelligence for climate action.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Microsol, represented by its general manager Yanna Gruel, participated in two panels within the Carbon Markets Track 1. In the first one, \u201cExpanding Carbon Markets: International Opportunities under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement\u201d, we shared our experience as developers and experts in the Monitoring, Reporting and Verification system of the pioneering Tuki Wasi Program, first in the region to be implemented under the Internationally Transferable Mitigation Outcomes (ITMO) mechanism, through the bilateral agreement between Peru and Switzerland signed under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. We shared this panel with Camilo Trujillo, LAC Lead and Digital Markets at IETA, Carolina Jaramillo Aguirrez\u00e1bal, LATAM Regional Director of South Pole, Berioska Quispe Estrada, General Director of Climate Change and Desertification of the Peruvian Ministry of Environment (MINAM) and Eduardo Piquero, General Director of MEXICO2. We commented on the program's development process, its impacts and potential, as well as on the financing opportunities that agreements between countries and committed institutions make possible if we work in a common direction to counteract climate change.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The second panel in which we participated, \u201cRENAMI: Challenges of the new regulated market in Peru\u201d, took place during the second day of the event. Also participating as panelists were Rogelio Campos, Technical Specialist in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and Cooperative Approaches of MINAM, Brendan Oviedo, Director of the Peruvian Carbon Association (APC) and Luis Miguel Aparicio, Director of Carbon Markets of A2G. This was a space to share different perspectives on the progress of the regulatory framework in the country's regulated carbon market, and the tools and processes to promote initiatives that contribute to achieving the NDCs. Microsol's experience in the Tuki Wasi Program was one of the main examples of how projects are progressing under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the opportunities that RENAMI opens to ensure transparency, quality and environmental integrity of the projects. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
